Tourist Places in Chennai

 With its historic landmarks and buildings, cultural and art centres, parks, and long sandy beaches, Chennai as a tourist destination offers many potentially interesting locations to visitors. From 2010 to 2012, Chennai was the most visited city in India by foreign tourists.  Chennai has a tropical moist and dry climate. It is located at the coast and lies at the thermal equator that prevents intense version in seasonal temperature. Chennai gets its hottest temperatures in late May or early June with maximum around 35-40 degree Celsius, this is commonly called locally as Agni Nakshatram (fire star) or Kathiri Veyyil. The scorching heat of the sun is nearly unbearable during this period, restricting people to their residence. The night time provides some respite from the high temperature during daytime as cool breeze flows. While on the other hand the coolest temperatures are in January with minimum of 19-25 degree Celsius. The highest temperature recorded was 45 degrees Celsius on 31 May 2003 while lowest recorded was 13.9 degree Celsius on 11 December 1895 and 29 January 1905.
